IPVanish sits in the middle of the market: fast enough, cheap enough, unlimited devices, and one of the few VPNs with a phone number you can call. It owns and operates a large share of its own servers instead of renting from third parties, which gives it more control over the hardware your traffic crosses than most competitors have.

The elephant in the room is 2016. Under its previous owner, IPVanish supplied connection logs to US Homeland Security in a criminal case, despite advertising a no-logs policy. The company has changed hands twice since, first to J2 Global and then to Ziff Davis, and commissioned an independent no-logs verification from Leviathan Security. But a provider that once logged while claiming otherwise carries that history, and buyers who care most about privacy will reasonably discount the current claims.

The current product is solid. WireGuard support, a working kill switch, split tunneling, obfuscation for restrictive networks, threat protection at the DNS layer, and apps that cover Fire TV and routers well. Speeds are respectable if not class-leading, and the unlimited device policy makes it a decent family purchase.

Streaming is average. Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video generally work; BBC iPlayer and other regional services are hit and miss. There is no crypto payment, no warrant canary, and the fleet is not RAM-only, so on the privacy checklist IPVanish trails the leaders on several rows at once.

Pricing is fair. Around $2.19/mo on the two-year plan, renewing near $8.99/mo, with a 30-day guarantee on annual terms. That is squarely mid-market and not the reason to choose or avoid it.

Pick IPVanish if you want unlimited devices, phone support and living-room platform coverage at a low price, and the privacy history does not weigh on you. If it does, PIA offers a similar feature profile with a court-tested record instead.
